Choose your vehicle. Follow each stage.

Fits Tesla Model 3 and Model Y · All model years. Installation details vary by panel and fastener arrangement.

Model 3 · Stage 1 / 4

Prepare the vehicle

Turn climate control off. Move the front passenger seat fully rearward and remove the floor mat. AirCore fits Tesla Model 3 across all model years.

Included tools

One trim pry tool and one L-shaped screwdriver. Inspect the panel and filter-cover arrangement before starting.

Open the filter area

Use the trim pry tool to release the passenger footwell cover. Support it and disconnect both plugs by their plastic housings—never pull the wires. Release the right center-console side panel. Inspect the filter cover: Tesla documents a screw or locking tabs depending on the vehicle. Use the method shown for the arrangement you find. If the HVAC module has no cabin-filter cover, reinstall the trim panels and contact Tesla.

Model 3 high-voltage warning

Do not stretch, bend, or damage the orange high-voltage cables attached to the filter cover. If damaged, stop immediately and contact Tesla.

Model 3 · Stage 3 / 4

Replace both filters

  1. Fold the upper filter tab upward and the lower tab downward.
  2. Pull the upper filter out first. Lift the lower filter upward, then pull it out.
  3. Install the lower filter first and the upper filter second.
  4. Point both printed arrows toward the vehicle rear.
Stop if the orange cable is damaged

Do not continue the procedure or touch damaged high-voltage components.

Reassemble and confirm

Fold the pull tabs inward and refit the filter cover using the arrangement found on the vehicle. If a filter-cover screw is fitted, Tesla specifies 1.2 N·m / 0.89 ft-lb. Reconnect both plugs, reinstall the footwell cover and console side panel, replace the mat, and return the seat to position.

After installation, record or reset the cabin-filter item in the vehicle’s Maintenance Summary.

Model Y · Stage 1 / 4

Prepare the vehicle

Follow the build-period access order

Before approximately February 2025, release the footwell cover’s push clips or magnets before the right console side panel; earlier filter covers may use a screw or tabs. From approximately February 2025, release the console side panel before the footwell cover, then release the filter cover with its bottom tabs.

Protect the connectors

Support the footwell cover and disconnect both plugs by their plastic housings. Never pull the wires.

Model Y · Stage 3 / 4

Replace both filters

  1. Squeeze the filter-cover tabs when present and tilt the cover outward; remove a screw only when the vehicle has one.
  2. Fold the upper filter’s pull tabs outward, then pull the upper filter out first. Avoid the connectors near the opening.
  3. Lift the lower filter upward, then pull it out.
  4. Install the lower filter first and the upper filter second, with both printed arrows toward the vehicle rear.

Model Y · Stage 4 / 4

Reassemble and confirm

Fold the pull tabs inward and refit the filter cover using the arrangement found on the vehicle. If a filter-cover screw is fitted, Tesla specifies 1.2 N·m / 0.89 ft-lb. Reconnect both plugs, re-secure the footwell cover, then reinstall the console side panel. Replace the mat and return the seat to position.

After installation, record or reset the cabin-filter item in the vehicle’s Maintenance Summary.
